We schedule birthday parties on Saturdays or Sundays for 4 hours between 9 am-4 pm. A donation of $375 to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center entitles you and 25 guests to an unforgettable day. If you have more than 25 people, it is $15 per additional person.
For the birthday party, you will have a naturalist (or multiple, depending on the size of your group) working with you to help set up decorations, food, etc. and lead the kids for the activity – teaching them about the local ecosystem and wildlife.
We have an ice machine and refrigerator space available.

Seagrass Adventure Party
Our naturalist guides will lead your party to explore the shallow seagrass beds directly off the beach. Adults and children will carefully collect creatures such as snapping shrimp, colorful parrotfish, pipefish, and more! The naturalists will give you an up-close look at the animals and explain their adaptations and importance to the ecology and biodiversity of South Florida. They will be gently released at the conclusion of the program.
All equipment is provided for the Seagrass Adventure – this portion takes about 2 hours. The party will return to the shady picnic area or courtyard to celebrate with the refreshments that you provide for your guests. Participants must be 7 years or older.
Beach Babies Party
This program is generally for children ages 4 – 6 years old. For the Beach Babies Party we discuss the details of the trails, safety rules, and instructions. This a dry program, so the children will not be getting into the ocean.
We take everyone for a walk along our trails and coastline, for as long as the children are able (typically 1-1.5 hours). On the beach, the naturalists may implement some games or time to explore the shoreline hands-on.
Time/interests permitting, our naturalists can take everyone for a tour of the aquariums in our Visitor’s Center, lead a nature related craft, or give a talk about sea turtle conservation using sea turtle bones and shells, so that the children have a hands-on learning experience.
What To Wear
- Closed-toed shoes are required for all of our programs!
- Clothes & shoes will definitely get wet during Seagrass Adventures. Bring a complete change of dry clothes, dry shoes, and a towel.

Reduce Plastic
- Be mindful of single-use plastic products! Many of the plastics that we use once end up in our oceans.
- By 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean! The future depends on us.
General Party Rules
You may arrive 30 minutes before the start time, but you will not be able to set up before that time. One car is permitted to pull up behind the building and drop off/load birthday supplies. After unloading, please park all vehicles in the parking lot adjacent to the nature center. A naturalist will be in the front with parking passes for the party (parking passes are valid until sunset).
We do not allow single use plastic, glass, styrofoam, or balloons. Try to bring reusable items as much as possible, and if not, recyclable items are preferred. For flatware, wooden/bamboo plates and cutlery are the recommended option if reusable is not possible.
Lastly, all decorations and leftover food must be cleared out and cleaned up by the end of the scheduled party time.
